Yakubu wins 2025 Workplace Violence Reduction Award
We’re proud to share that Yakubu has won the 2025 Workplace Violence Reduction Award – a national recognition for excellence in safety and security.
The award was presented by John Lambert, Vice Chair of the National Association for Healthcare Security (NAHS), at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel. Held as part of the Safety and Security Series, the event celebrates individuals making a difference in frontline safety.
Yakubu’s work at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) stood out for its impact. His ability to de-escalate volatile situations with calm and care has helped protect patients, staff and visitors. Beyond this, Yakubu is a mentor to others. He shares his knowledge, builds team confidence and strengthens overall performance.
His actions highlight the power of professional, human-focused security. From leading by example to helping others grow, Yakubu has consistently gone above and beyond.
This award also reflects the support Yakubu receives from both MFT and the GSTS team. At GSTS, we invest in the training and development of all our security officers. It’s this backing that allows individuals like Yakubu to thrive.
Yakubu’s win also highlights the broader role security professionals play within the NHS and wider healthcare system. It’s about more than physical protection – it’s about creating a safe, calm and supportive environment for everyone.
At GSTS, we continue to develop and promote best practice in healthcare security. From tailored conflict resolution training to mentoring schemes and performance reviews, we’re committed to delivering safer outcomes across all of our NHS partnerships.
Congratulations, Yakubu – a well-deserved award that shows what true leadership looks like.
