About the role
GSTS is looking for an experienced General Manager to join our senior leadership team at an important stage in our continued growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager will provide day-to-day leadership across the business, with responsibility for management teams, key client relationships, operational and commercial performance, and supporting the continued development of the organisation.
Alongside our established security operations, GSTS has ambitions to expand further into Facilities Management, training and wider outsourced services. The successful candidate will play a key role in navigating and driving this growth while ensuring our existing operations continue to deliver consistently high standards.
This is a broad senior leadership position for an experienced individual who can combine operational leadership with strong commercial awareness, client management and business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop managers, driving accountability, performance and consistent standards across the business
- Maintain senior oversight of operational, client and commercial performance
- Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with key clients
- Support client retention, organic growth and identification of new opportunities
- Lead and support major tenders, bids and public-sector procurement opportunities
- Oversee complex contract mobilisations and TUPE transfers
- Support commercial strategy, pricing, profitability, forecasting and risk management
- Support GSTS’ expansion into Facilities Management, training and wider outsourced services
- Oversee the retention and continued development of company accreditations, certifications and management standards
- Identify additional accreditations and capabilities required to support entry into new markets
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation and service development
- Support senior managers with people performance, succession planning and organisational development
- Ensure appropriate governance, compliance, health & safety and risk management standards are maintained
- Support the CEO in delivering the company’s strategic objectives and long-term growth plans
What we’re looking for
Essential experience:
- Significant senior leadership experience within security, Facilities Management or another outsourced service environment
- Proven experience leading managers and multi-site operational teams
- Strong client and commercial management experience
- Demonstrable experience of complex contract mobilisation and TUPE
- Significant tender and bid experience, including public-sector procurement
- Experience supporting business development, client retention and organic growth
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- Ability to operate strategically while maintaining effective oversight of day-to-day business performance
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills
Desirable experience:
- Manned guarding and outsourced security services
- Facilities Management or integrated services
- Training or vocational learning services
- Healthcare, public sector, aviation, transport or other complex operational environments
- SIA Approved Contractor Scheme and ISO management systems
- Experience retaining and developing organisational accreditations and certifications
