The GSTS Excellence Award Kyron Salisbury recognises employees who demonstrate exceptional dedication. Kyron played a crucial role in assisting a patient under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act, who was experiencing distress and aggressive outbursts while awaiting a mental health bed.

Understanding the need for calm and reassurance, Kyron built rapport with the patient and took additional steps to support them. He personally purchased sensory toys to help reduce agitation, ensuring the patient remained as calm as possible. His quick thinking and willingness to go beyond his expected duties made a meaningful difference to both the patient and the healthcare staff.

Supporting patient welfare through healthcare security

Security officers in healthcare settings do more than ensure physical safety. They contribute to patient welfare, de-escalation and crisis management, supporting medical teams in challenging situations.
