CCTV Operator – NHS Healthcare Security

About the role

GSTS is looking for experienced CCTV Operators to support NHS healthcare security teams across Greater Manchester. Working in a busy hospital control room, you will monitor CCTV, identify risks, coordinate responses and help protect patients, staff, visitors and property using AI-enhanced surveillance systems.

This is a permanent, full-time role on a 4 on / 4 off rota with 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, paying £14.05 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor live CCTV across hospital sites using AI-enhanced systems
• Identify suspicious activity, safety risks and developing incidents
• Direct security officers to incidents via radio and telephone
• Support missing or vulnerable patient searches
• Monitor access control, alarms and security systems
• Review and export CCTV footage for investigations
• Liaise with NHS staff, police and emergency services
• Support major incidents, evacuations and lockdown procedures

You will support incidents involving vulnerable patients, safeguarding concerns, aggression, mental health crises and medical emergencies, so you must stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality at all times.

What we’re looking for

• Valid SIA CCTV (PSS) Licence
• 5-year employment history (BS7858) and right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS eligibility
• Confidence with CCTV and security systems
• Strong communication skills and good attention to detail
• Ability to work 4 on / 4 off shifts including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays

CCTV control-room, NHS or healthcare security experience is desirable, as is First Aid or Mental Health First Aid.
